I woke like the day, gray and grumbly. Chores felt like chores, the kitchen was a mess and yesterday’s iris were all dead. With a sigh of one feeling the woes of the world I began cleaning the kitchen, wondering if I would ever find anything to write about.
I stuffed clean dishes into the cupboards and dirty ones into the dishwasher, decided to skip wiping the counter and dumped the iris into the sink. I realized a couple were still salvageable so I picked one up.

What a beautiful flower. It made me smile. Now the day isn’t as gray as it was.

Your iris are beautiful! Do they have names?

I’m sure they do have names, but I ‘m afraid I don’t know what they are. I tend to swap them from friends and family and the names rarely come along with them.
